Pieces and bits

Life continues to offer visitors and things to do.  Here's a few of our latest.

this white horse greeted me, both coming and going, on my bike ride around the North Valley Rd.

After I'd attempted to surmount Bear Bait Hill, I rode to re-meet Jeffery.  There he is, running in fine form after 5 miles.

another contraption.  have I already shown you this?

Back in Tobin, Jeffery and Kim put the flag at half-mast for the victims of the shooting in Chatenooga.

Jeffery and James move Grover's crossing sign over, so it can be seen from the road.  The apple tree had grown so big, it was blocking the sign from view.

anyone familiar with Caribou Road will see that this is a view of where the weir once was.

Here, zoom up on it.  See 'em now?

Jeffery and James have attached the train lights we were given, so now this is officially Grover's Crossing!

Kyria's Run and Other Stuff

Kyria ran the Tahoe Rim Trail 100 last weekend, and her Dad was there to support her with her team.  I stayed home to watch from my computer, which actually was quite interesting.  I had a list of her friends-running chums, so I was rooting for over 15 people, and watching for them to finish.

Before he went up to see the run, Jeffery, Dick and James went to the State Fair in Sacramento, and he spotted the big gorilla at the Belden party on his way towards Lake Tahoe, so I add the photos at the beginning of this post, to be chronologically correct.

Finally, there was a festival at the Hot Springs Resort that we attended and enjoyed.

there's the gorilla at the Belden party.  it was here last year, too, if memory serves.

Jeffery and Matt hiked out of Tunnel Creek and headed up to the Diamond Peak ski hill to await the runners.  Matt rested at the Lodge, since he would be pacing Kyria for the last 20 miles, while Dad hiked up to the top.

There they go!  Off to finish the race.  Kyria would only make it another 5 miles before the back pain took back over and ended her race.  Good effort, K!  Better luck next time!

the next day, the support crew had to go cheer on the rest of the Pamakids and friends.  Here comes John to the finish line!
