Halloween

A few Tobin doin's for the holiday of Halloween.  Wish I'd gotten a few more of the trick or treaters going to the houses here.  In all my time at Tobin (17 years), we've NEVER had trick or treaters!  This was so fun!

Oakley has all her pumpkin carving tools ready!

she scraped out the pumpkin all by herself.  Grandpa Russ just had to scrape the hard stuff.

Autumn helps her mom, Ayla, carve the pumpkin while her dad, Shawn looks on

we were eating dinner with Kathy, Craig, Darlene, and Mom when we heard happy noises over at Uncle Grover's house.  The trick or treaters are coming!!!

isn't this fun!?  Uncle Jeffery made popcorn balls

Auntie Kathy hands out more candy.  Little Autumn just loves Auntie Kathy

Darlene and Craig look on, while Gma watches from a quieter place

Oh boy!  Iron Man has come to see us!  Little Louis is only 2 years old.

the gang goes up to see if Dick has treats or will have to be tricked.  Nope, he had treats.

Our delightful costumed visitors; Louis, Autumn, and Oakley.  Thanks kids and parents for coming by to see us!

Family

We attended the wedding of our nephew Casey Fewell to Aimee in a lovely off-the-beaten path vineyard in Capay.  I share some of the clearest photos.  Many were blurry from action or darkness.  It was a great time with loving happy people, and we felt blessed to be part of it all.

Mom was treated to a hair and makeup session before the wedding by Craig and Darlene

showing a bit of frisky, eh?

there were shuttles and a Cadillac to take us from the parking to the venue

Danny's shoe lost its sole just after he arrived.  Thus, he had to wear his sneakers for the rest of the party.

Cousins!  Matt, Kevin, Kyria, Wendie, and Joy

Clearly, he needs some practice.  Help!  How do you do this?

the path up to the site of the ceremony
I loved this!  Aimee wanted us to experience her marriage through our eyes, not a lens, so I can't show you any actual views of the ceremony.  I can tell you, I leaked when Casey walked his mom to her seat at the outset.  And the bride looked lovely in her full veil and heritage dress.

We all walked through the doorway both going and coming

Julia had to wait for the grooms-men and brides-maids to join her at the table, so I visited with her

The night photos of dancing and bouquet throwing and cake cutting were disappointing, so I don't add any, but we went on to have a jolly time with a cheery group.  I was the designated driver, and got us back to the hotel with only a few terrified screams from my passengers.  (I'm not joking).
Congratulations to the happy couple, and to their parents.  What a wonderful day.

Random Bits of This and That

Here are a variety of little moments that got left out of my showings.

James has an art gallery here at Tobin, and over the month of October, he hosted an art show with his fellow Main Street Artist Gallery associates.

I love sunlit weeds in early autumn

the big boater weekend of the year was extremely well attended

a slew of kayakers running the rapids

the boulders just east of Tobin look so pretty with the colorful boats

self-explanatory
Kyria came for the weekend, and her desire to run around in the mountains took me, her and Jeffery up the Ben Lomond trail.  We are standing on what Brenda calls Paul's Nose

The Paul's Nose rock with the metal badge embedded, telling us  that Paul's Creek Point is 3854 ft. in elevation

Okay, eye test time again.  Kyria is a tiny figure in this view, her arms upraised, wearing a blue shirt.  Can you see her?      She is standing on a round rock.  At the right edge of the photo is a tree with silvery branches.  A bit left of that is a burnt looking tree.  Kyria is between the two trees just below the top edge of the right tree.  See her?  Hi, Kyria!  She was taking a run.

Jeffery and I attended his 40th (!!) high school reunion, Class of 75, which was also the Class of 74's reunion

Kyria brought me heart rocks from France and Switzerland!

Jeffery and I did a hike up Yellow Creek

it doesn't look quite real, does it?  it's like a kid's creation

Yellow Creek

this tree twisted and ripped right off the hill and fell with a crash some time not too long ago

you can see the trail for quite a ways through this stretch of the forest

a pretty whirl-pool.  See the leaf stuck to the rock sort of left of center?  It stayed there the whole time we sat by the creek

closer view.  the water lapped in heavier swooshes, then ebbed a bit, but the leaf stayed put.  "surface tension" in action

we also slipped in a nice evening at Rocki's Feather River Hot Springs with music by Andy Shanks

and there you have it!  All the news that is fit to print.  Smile!
