Red Hill

I happen to have gone up Red Hill twice in recent weeks.  Once, with Brenda to take a hike, and once with Jeffery, Mom, and Kathy, to show them the sights.  Here's a few views.

This view of Red Hill is taken from Chambers Peak.  Red Hill is in the center, behind the rocky-top "faux peak".

to get up Red Hill, you must go up Rush Creek Road, taking the gravel road through the burn zone, to the split, and then up to the top.  This sign on the tree shows the way

Brenda and I parked at the mist level and hiked into the sunshine to the top

love those markers!

aren't these red rocks so cool, with their infusion of shiny silvery and spotting of  lichen?

Jeffery thinks this may be the remains of the old fire tower, now used for receivers

Okay, here is the day we went with Mom and Kathy.  Here's the burn zone at the bottom of the hill.

in several places, we encountered these "spills" of red rocks that go all the way up out of view

and all the way down the hill, too

I brought my golden cloak with me, to let it play in the breeze

Gnarly trees

on our way back down, we stopped for lunch at the photo spot, and I discovered I could see the Caribou Powerhouses and penstocks.  Those who know the area might be able to see the giant penstocks in the dirt-rock

There you go!
