I've been negligent about posting our adventures, but that is due to all that's been happening around here. Unfortunately, trying to play catch-up would entail too much time spent, so I'm starting from our most recent outing and going forward. I signed up again this year to do the Open House at the NASA Jet Propulsion Lab in Pasadena, and, by doing so, gave us an excuse to expand into a real Super Adventure.
Our first day took us from Tobin to Kings Canyon National Park, via the west side of the Sierras through the big central valley of our great state. I will let the photos show you what we saw and experienced. This is just an appetite-whetter for the days to come!

| I get to add Madera County to my Counties Visited List! |
| And Tulare County, too! |

| The John Muir Lodge |
| Add this to my Geo-Marker list. We're at 6651 ft. elevation. |
| Our first glimpse of the General Grant tree |
| Jeffery found this downed log, which we could climb through |
| Many people had done the crawl, which made all the hand-holds smooth as glass. |
| Jeffery looks like he's caught between the lion's paws. This wasn't even one of the biggest sequoias in the forest. |
| It was impossible to capture the entire tree in one shot. |
| Here's some info. |
| At the feet of Giants |
| The top of the tree is almost as big in girth as the bottom. |
| One more attempt to capture its wholeness. |
| A very quiet deer behind the rock. |
We marveled at how we could be walking in the forest and not see the big trees until we were right up close to them. Although, if the sun was hitting them, they glowed orange-gold, so they'd stick out a bit better. Otherwise, they lurked quietly, just being their big selves without fanfare. Awesome!
More later.........
