Yosemite - Day 4

We woke cheerful and raring to go.  Kyria and Jeffery headed up the Upper Yosemite Falls trail to get some exercise, while Grandma and I bussed over to the Lower Yosemite Falls vista, which required some walking.  It sure was nice to have the use of Dick's motorhome, so that G-ma had a bed, and we all had hot coffee and oatmeal to start the day.

Barbara-Mom made it to the Lower Falls

The water wass so green.  Imagine this place in 1997 when the floods came through.  It must've been awesome!

Yosemite Falls bronze relief.  The trail starts with switchbacks on the left side.  The next rub-lightened place on the trail, just to the right of the terrible switchbacks, is where I will get when we hike the next day, and then the next rubbed place is where Jeffery and Kyria, and later, Matt and Wendie will reach.

Kyria and Jeffery make the viewing spot before heading down to meet with us and with Matt and Wendie at camp
Matt and Wendie are here with us!  It's Wendie's first time in Yosemite.  We all went up to Mirror Lake for a leg stretch and to introduce Wendie to one of the wonders.

Grama sat contentedly below Half Dome, chatting with folks and communing with Nature

Grama and I had driven up, and were waiting for the others, when I got the urge to dip my toes in the Merced River.  We had seen a young couple ford the stream moments earlier.

when the family showed up on the opposite side of Mirror Lake, we told them about the crossing, so they braved it!

Dad takes the rear, to make sure all get safely across, while Matt finds the water a wee bit chilly

We're back down in the Valley and, sadly, will part from Kyria, who has to head home for work tomorrow.

We moved from Lower Pines Campground to a room at Curry Village, and in our investigatings, came across this last ruin of the original Curry Home at the very foot of Glacier Point's massive bulk.

to give perspective, I'm on the rock above the fireplace

American Gothic - the end of a long day!  (this was a posed shot; they were really quite cheerful, if very weary.)
See you tomorrow!
