Kites and Flowers and More

April 1st was beautiful on Table Mountain, and along the canyon, and through Cherokee.  So lush and green and colorful!  Spring is fully upon us.  I share our trip and our day in photos.

At Yankee Pines Hardware, they're selling one of these wonderful gardening huts for us folk who are finding it hard to get down on our knees to weed and plant and play.  I want one!

Oroville Lake is full again!!!!

Grant, Sara, and me get ready to fly kites in the very light breeze

The Jay Family - Shawn, Autumn, Ayla, and Oakley

here comes Kristine and Kinley with Grantpa.

Three generations at our Table Mountain Kite Flying Day!

I love children and Kristine was so lovely to share herself with us!

Laurie and Brenda Braaten join us!!

Love this, especially since Jeffery took it when he and Oakley went to the top of a rise to look at how beautiful the world was.

I just like this picture

terribly dark, but I like it anyway

we took a walk to see more wildflowers, because certain flowers grow only in certain places

gosh, I love the waterways that meander around Table Mountain

Uncle Jeffery and Oakley take the high road

the flowers are often sprinkled so randomly, you don't realize how many there are, and then you look, and they're everywhere

another patch amidst the infinity of patches

Brenda, Laurie and I went on to the waterfall, in search of this Purple Owl's Clover

in many places, the earliest water-dependant mosses and flowers have dried up, and the next in line offers itself for our pleasure

another tiny segment of wonderment; I burst into "the Hills are Alive with the Sound of Music", but only sang that one line, for the sake of all the other hikers nearby.

another waterway

we arrive at the waterfall

standing in the same place as above, but looking down at the pool below

trying to show how the world was alive with color

this falls and pool leads down to the waterfall we just saw

can you see why I dreamed of flowers and water last night?

close-up of the Owl's Clover; it has little seperate white flowers interiorly as part of it's self

the waterway that leads to the falls, closer to where we're gathered.

on the way home, we stopped to look at where the rock slide had closed the railroad tracks for a week or so recently

close-up of the place that dumped itself onto the tracks
There you have it.  Our Excellent Kite Flying Day, which also happened to be Karl Van Petten's 35th birthday, and also a day of memoriam for Gordon Hall, so we were sharing the love with all.
