The End of January Already

As the first month of 2017 comes to a close, the pace of my life has picked up, with better weather, and a variety of social events to brighten my days. I have also been gifted with a longer visit from Jeffery to help regenerate my batteries after a long, rainy, stress-laden holiday season and new year's start.  As you'll see, we filled our time so far with much ado!  Fun ado!
But let me begin in order:

View of the Valley and the Sutter Buttes as I leave the mountains

The center of Cherokee

The well-known, oft' photographed Table Mountain Oak Tree

Cherokee's residents still have a superfluity of water in their yards and verging the road

If you consider the debris piles in this view of Rock Crest, you'll realize how high the river got even now that it's receded.

Here's the view from the bridge looking downstream, and you can tell the water had action when it flowed onto this level.

Update photo of the progress putting Chipp's Creek back into shape

Jeffery has arrived!

Mom and Jeffery, ready for the Robert Burns Celebration

Jeffery and I ready, too.

I loved this lady's hand-sewn velvet dress, and her good-pup, Gladys.

This fellow has award-winning knees, having won a Best Knees Contest, where blind-folded women felt the contestant's knees to determine the finest.

The dining hall and stage

The people have been let in.

Mom chose the beef meal.  That's haggis to the right of the mashed potatoes

Jeffery and I went with the salmon.  There was bread pudding for dessert, and salad first.

"art-painting" attempt to show the morning in Reno view from my hotel

We met up with Leslie and John and Ellen at the Squeeze Inn for the annual breakfast.

I was there, too.

Us with our new Sugar Bowl season ski passes

Center of the picture, Grant in red jacket, Jeffery in blue, and Cindy in white

I just loved the shadows and ski tracks
View of last light from our Boomtown hotel parking lot

We went to Cabela's for a browse and to spend time

part of a large montage

The size of the trap was unbelievable.

cool killer whale

why didn't anyone tell me that's what I look like to the chair-lift attendants?  They are cute guys, and I look like that!

Cindy and Jeffery lunching at Alpine Meadows Ski Resort on day 2

The ungroomed, but well-tracked slope

Jeffery tells of a steep place, and Grant gets his camera ready for the after-lunch vistas

Love this shot of the slope I skied down all morning, which is in the center background

the red snow-grooming machines came down towards the end of the day

The crews worked on ridding the roof-edge of it's snow-berg, as another storm system is coming in.  Note the snow level.

After they've been working on it for a while, they've made progress

On our way home!
