Myriad Things and County #44

It is beginning to be the rainy season here, so my walks and drives have been curtailed somewhat.  The days are full of different things, but I've still had a few outings and times with special loved ones, and the autumn colors have lingered to turn the world rather dusky pink-gold-brown.  The waterfalls are back, and I can hear ours again, roaring from across the way.

Sara and I are going to hike the Cascades Trail.  I've never been, so she is introducing me to this lovely area.

Rock "cave"

It's chilly along the creek.

Rainy day trip starts with increased volume in Swamp Creek

Rice fields are beginning to be flooded, which is as it's supposed to be

Rice co-op

Approaching the Coast Range as I cross the north valley from east to west

The terrain begins to change, and the flora bedecks each area differently

Pass through the grassy uplands to the hidden glens that will lead me to Clear Lake

The highway signs called this view a "Vista", so I photo'd it for y'all.

There's my goal!  Lake County.  #44 out of 58 visited in 2017

Turning back to Colusa Co.

Tufted hills - so different from the oak-pine foothills to the west

Back to the glens

One of those road whoop-d-woops

Ethereal hills and grasslands

Tiger-striped hills with cows in the meadow

Very faint in the background - the Sutter Buttes - the world's smallest mountain range with a touch of sun on the top. (and the dratted power lines)

Second time through Glenn Co.

Just as I pulled up and grabbed my camera, the flock lifted off the water, and this is only part of the mass of avians in the air.  The noise of them was wonderful.

Loved the shapes of them

You can tell by the white ones that some are Snow Geese!

Photo of just a very few of the pond-sitters
Veteran's Day - Old Mill Ranch bridge honor

It's a sign of things to come

The hike was easy, paved, and not steep

I really love this photo and scene

Explanation

Frazier Falls seen from across the way, with a tree-stump covered with pebbles and coins in the foreground.

There you go!  Now I have to pack for our next trip - with Jeffery - to the 3 north-west counties, which will give me all of northern California above Sacramento!  See you after that!
