Amazing Heroes - The Wrapping of Tobin by the Wonderful Firefighters during the North Complex Fire of 2020

The North Complex Fire is hovering above us, about three miles down river and many peaks and ravines away.  Today I took a walk down to the Sun Circle in Tobin and photographed the hose lays and the magic of fire protection.  Here are the pictures of my walk.  I am told that our preparedness and water system with the Fire Line was welcomed greatly, and one captain said that metal roofs are worth their price and more in communities like ours.

Rather than label every single shot, I'll explain that I began at the top of the hill near my house and captured the walk down the hill and around the resort.  The water hoses were mostly laid yesterday, and you'll notice how excellent this SYSTEM is, as it reaches every place they hope to battle fire on, whether forest or structure.  Cabins have sprinklers around them and on their roofs.  Personal use hoses are split off from the main ones, and all water feeding them is pumped up from the river into holding tanks.  The whole thing runs at the same time!  All the sprinklers (and there are tons of them!) go at the same time, so you can imagine the hydrodynamics of such a fete!  I cry with awe.

As you can see, these heroes have put up serious protection, and now they wait to battle any fire that comes to us.  Besides these hose lays, they have cut excess brush, cleared around structures where needed, cut fire lines around the perimeter, and had crews here 24 hours a day doing all this work for several days now.  I am humbled.  I also share this so that those who evacuated can see how well we are being protected.  Its time for me to bake more cookies to pass around again, that's for sure.

This is a quick report on a very interesting day.  Depending on what happens, I'll try to update as I can.

Look for white hoses and working sprinklers.  We got to see them charge and operate the system for the sprinklers, which adds humidity to the air, we were told; which slows the fire.  We got sprinkled by it!

The hoses go all the way down the way on our flat, and up behind me to ours and Dick's house.

Below is our Sun Circle group of evacuation stay-ins for our bi-weekly covid-era socializing

It was at this point when all the sprinklers turned on, and our Sun Circle became a look-see tour.

The red truck is from Indian Valley!  The mountain in the hazy far distance is where we all watch to see if the fire comes over from behind it. We are looking south, down river, with Tobin Resort out of view to my left.  We can't thank all these folks enough, so we tell noble stories of their skills and deeds.
