Last few views and then I'm home!

I am back in California, where the thermometer reads 101 instead of 73, and the land and air is sere, rather than humid and green.  Uncle Groovy kept my garden alive, and Dick kept my cat fed, so all is well with the world.  It's quiet; so quiet here.  And fragrant, too.  I look forward to re-acquainting myself with this world.

At Knight's Landing, I stopped at our favorite Taco Wagon for the usual 2 tacos (asada) and a Jarritos (pineapple)

As I came over Jarbo Gap, this cloud gave me both dread and joy.  Rain or lightning?  Which?  Turns out, neither.
I am going to try to put some of Jeffery's camera-shots on the blog, but they are denser, and in Tobin, my feed is much slower, so I will put them in a separate post.  Here's one for now.

Winding down and preparing to head home

Well, it's been another great time in New York.

The horse would take a mouthful and while he chewed, the birds would flock to his bucket to eat.  He would then kick the bucket with his front foot, and take another mouthful when the pigeons had scattered.

Came to this station on the 1 route to capture the tile art, seen in the following few photos

Here we are, after standing for over an hour in line to become the welcoming audience-crowd for the Season 9 premiere of America's Got Talent.  Didn't really get to see much, truthfully; just lights and people and the "scene", but now we can claim to have "been on t.v.".

this is us just before they "put us to work" cheering and clapping and appearing thrilled to be there

they kept telling us crowd-members to cheer, but to put the cameras down.

This is what we could see of the Rockettes from our position.  Some of the audience-crowd didn't even know the Rockettes were right above them.

We squeezed through the barriers and escaped to get a better view from across 6th Avenue.  Then we went for an ice cream cone.

I may have put this place onto the blog last year.

Cool buildings; which you are about to see more of in this post.

It's a dog party; a big dog party!

I loved this tree, and the light upon it.

Sounds a bit, well, hmm, better not say.

It's like a circus!

I'll probably have one more NYC post, because I have Jeffery's photos to show, and more on my camera.  But for now; it is my last day in Gotham, and I fly out first thing in the morning.  See you in California!

Out on the Weekend

It was really nice being with Jeffery for two whole days, not just evenings.  We ate good food, rode the ferry over to Governors Island, (we were stymied by weekend subway changes from getting out to Yankee Stadium for Sharon ), saw many sights, chatted over many topics, took an art class, sat in the park watching people, and went to the Morgan Library and Museum (Hey Ma and Aunt Cyndie; we did it, and you were right; it was wonderful)
Even the two down-pour rains came in the night, leaving the days nice and fresh for our adventures.
Here are photos to show you what it looked like!  I begin with my Friday sight-seeing tour.

Riverside Church, the tallest in NYC

So tall, you can't get a shot of it's total height from the sidewalk; even when lying on the ground to get it.

The Announcer said "stand behind the yellow line as the train approaches", so what does Jeffery do?
