Out on the Weekend

It was really nice being with Jeffery for two whole days, not just evenings.  We ate good food, rode the ferry over to Governors Island, (we were stymied by weekend subway changes from getting out to Yankee Stadium for Sharon ), saw many sights, chatted over many topics, took an art class, sat in the park watching people, and went to the Morgan Library and Museum (Hey Ma and Aunt Cyndie; we did it, and you were right; it was wonderful)
Even the two down-pour rains came in the night, leaving the days nice and fresh for our adventures.
Here are photos to show you what it looked like!  I begin with my Friday sight-seeing tour.

Riverside Church, the tallest in NYC

So tall, you can't get a shot of it's total height from the sidewalk; even when lying on the ground to get it.

more of its cool angles

One of the wonderfully vibrant stained glass windows

an alter in one of the chapels

I could photograph the front doorway carvings all day, and still not catch all the details

The Hudson River and New Jersey

more excellent scaffolding

This guy could really play the blues

Not too many subways let the sunlight in

The tile pictures in this subway were done by students

You see all kinds of people

Jeffery calls this the Ladies Gazebo, and it was the first time I'd seen it in Central Park

Emmanuel and Jeffery; my hiking and dinner buddies

The ferry to Governors Island.  I wonder what the words "at the same moment" refer to, or mean

We arrive

a pretty ship, with Brooklyn in the background.  The cement "building" to the far right is an air-vent shaft to feed the tunnel under the river

Jeffery on the walls of Fort Jay

One of the homes used by the military

Artistic decay

We think this really melted; that it's not an artwork.  What got hot enough to melt it?

the light of the day made the buildings seem to stick out

Jewelry from BCE.  How fine it is!  How did it survive intact, so that I'm seeing it?

The Announcer said "stand behind the yellow line as the train approaches", so what does Jeffery do?

Tile art at our stop where we'll take the art class in Brooklyn

very lovely tag art, signed!

and drink bloody marias!

ready for class!

Teacher Danielle, and our artistic endeavors.  I think Jeffery is a new Van Gogh

I still have "When the Saints Go Marching In" stuck in my head
