Running with the Bears Family Campout - Part Two

I got to the Taylorsville Campground, and began to enjoy Family Time.  Sara and Kyria have posted photos on Facebook that show much of the big doings, but I'm going to offer a few of my own.  I didn't take any Thursday night, so we'll start with Friday morning.

our camp is more decorated and full.  Due to the Perseid meteor showers, Grant and Sara slept out under the stars.  That's them on the ground beyond the picnic table.  Cousin Cindy had arrived late; that's her car with the kayak on top.

our world is fun!

I got up early and took a walk down to the river

the sun was already coming up on the mountains

We had the "quiet" camp, so Barbara came over for coffee that morning while we cooked breakfast.   Jeffery and Cindy gab together while Mom and Sara visit.

here's the Group Zone, with Levi's, Jessica's. and Diana's families cooking breakfast.  Love the view!

Sara does henna art on my foot

first-time henna artists; can you tell?  I want to practice more
Okay, it's Running with the Bears Race Day.  It was 39 degrees when the 7 a,m. race began

Jeffery gets his number and goody bag

Jeffery is ready to race.  He got the shirt when he ran the 10K three or four years previous, and I decorated it.

Kyria pins the number badge onto her Dad

On your marks, get set......

Go!

Kyria jumps in

there they go!  I will take their coats to the car, grab my bike and try to catch up to them.
There, I did catch them.  I rode past them to stop and take a from-the-front photo, but dumped my bike in the attempt.               I told them "don't stop!"

they kept going at my urging

My nemesis!  I still have yet to conquer it without dismounting.  The bear gets me every time.

Jeffery crosses the Finish Line at 1:49:27; well under the 2 hour hope-goal.  He is the 7th runner across the line out of 194 Half Marathoners

Jeffery receives his Running with the Bears participant medallion

He has to run it off before he can stop and let us thump him on the back in congratulatory pride

Jeffery shows his medallion to Kathleen, Brenda, and Laurie.  It's Brenda's birthday!

Dad and Daughter are now officially "Bears"

I submit to the reality that the Bear was more than I could overcome.

Jeffery and Charlie Brown, who is always the man to beat since he wins every year.

after the Race, we found Andrea and Danny arriving.  Yay!

Kathy, Sara and Bryan.  Bryan and Charlotte had arrived late last night, so there was a new tent in camp when I arose.

Edwin and Annette arrived while most everyone was up at Antelope Lake

Charlotte dances the Highland Jig

Bryan pipes her

Chase and Charlotte do the Robot Highland Jig

Elizabeth presented us with a lovely display of crawdads that she, Breanna and the boys had worked hard to catch.
I stopped taking photos at this point, and enjoyed the evening around the campfire and at the Archive Review table.  Auntie Princess Diana had brought some fabulous albums of her life and the folks in it, which was a trip down Memory Lane.
The next morning, I headed to the ER with an injured ligament in my leg, which had plagued me for a few days, so I missed the rest of the party, the break-down of camp, and the last visit with loved ones.  Boy, what a good time we had all together.  I'm ready to do it again.
