Maryland with Debby

Jeffery and I hadn't seen Debby in far too long, so we braved the airports and flights, and went for a visit in my birth state of Maryland (yes, I'm a Balti-moron)  It was special to see her "new" home and my old environs, and to spend time catching up.  Miss her a lot already!

Jeffery at the Sacramento Airport

After a delayed arrival via a different route than booked, we slept and woke ready to see the sights and to shop for fresh produce at the truck stop alongside the road.

Here's the Loch Raven Fishing Center, where my Dad used to work, and where my brother spent many a summer's day.

Boats for rent.  We usually visit Debby over the holiday season, so it was fun to be here in the summer.

Amusing sign.  Errant golf balls!

Debby and Phil looking amazingly fresh, given the heat and humidity.

Jeffery and me with the reservoir in the background.

A blurry shot, but I find this livingroom very comfortable and warm in its furnishings.

Phil and Jeffery enjoy a gab on the deck

Debby and me with our summer supper of CRAB CAKES! Fresh tomatoes and corn!  Coleslaw!!

We had fun taking out the trash since it was just down the hall and down a chute.

I think a trash chute is a great idea!!!!

On hot days, Debby does her 1 hour walk at the giant TowsonTown Mall.  This is one of the central courtyards.

Art shot of the glass dome over the stairway.

A trip to Shrewsbury Pennsylvania to see Phil's new apartment and to see the green green rolling hills, which seems like the Emerald City to use wildfire-weary golden Californians.

Peaches at the Brown Family farm stand, which is very spacious and offers diverse items.

Jeffery waves from Debby's 3rd floor deck.

On a road trip to the Eastern Shore, we crossed the Severn River

Then we arrived at the Cheasapeake Bay Bridge, which, when I was a wee bairn, was a serious engineering marvel; at 4.3 miles long, it was the world's longest steel structure over water.

It's so big!

Sorry, but I love architecture and engineering feats.

The bridge has all sorts and shapes of arches.

Oyster tray display

More oyster trays.  They had several such display windows.

We had a sublimely excellent meal at this restaurant.

Back at Debby's, the view of her den from her livingroom

One of my great-grandfather's paintings, which I love.

Brother Tom came for a visit, which was so fun!!

Me and my lovely step-mom.

Art shot of a plane tail in a beveled mirror at the Baltimore Airport.

Our flight from Baltimore was supposed to take us to Charlotte NC, but mechanical trouble got us rebooked to Phoenix.  But when we got to Phoenix, it was having a thunderstorm, so we landed in Las Vegas, an hour closer to home, but they told us they were taking us right back to Phoenix, so I said "the hell you are!" and we spent the night in Vegas on the airlines' dime.

Jeffery checks us in to our hotel.  The chandelier is the one in the above photo, too.

It's 3 a.m. in Baltimore when we trudge down the long long hall to our room at the South Point Hotel.

Saw this sign on the AirTrain back to the Las Vegas Airport.  We would fly to Phoenix, change planes, and finally arrive in Sacramento, 12 hours later than planned, with 5 hours of supine sleep under our belts.  It looked flat and brown in the valley.
I am so glad we went.  Not even the flight delays could dampen the joy.  Love you, Debby!
