Hiking to Anthony's Nose

On Saturday, Jeffery and I went on the train up the Hudson River to the Manitou stop, where we met up with the Appalachian Trail for a ways, and climbed a rugged road up and then up some more until we reached our goal.  We could see Bear Mountain from there, across the River.  It was a very hard trek, harder than any I've taken, I think; due to the rough footing and steep climbs and drops.  I'm sore still today (Monday).

Our conductor prepares to let us off the train

Another stop with no town or services, so my empty water bottles remained empty.  Stupid me.

The view from Anthony's Nose.  Photos of our hike were too sun dappled to show well, so I left them out.

We let one train go, and stayed to relax by the Hudson, with our various attained places in the view
The train we did take ended up having brake trouble, so we were much delayed getting back to our hotel.  This was okay, since it was a Saturday, but it was hard on our sore bodies to sit on the train for so long.  On Sunday, we slept until 8, and didn't mind a bit!

More time together with Jeffery

On Friday, after Jeffery got off work, we went to see the inside of the building I call the Mr. K building, and then on to the Metropolitan Museum of Art.  We finished our night with a shared sandwhich at Pastrami Queen.  The sandwhich cost $18, but it was so good, and so big, it fed us both a dinner, and then a lunch the next day.

Had to show Jeffery the Armor and Arms section.  We learned that the suit of armor that I called the Fat Boy actually belonged to Henry VIII (wow)

Tomorrow I'll be posting our trip up to Bear Mountain, which turned out to be a hike up to Anthony's Nose, across the Hudson from Bear Mountain.

Adventures at the End of the Week

Here is my Friday; only what I did before Jeffery got home from work.

Spotted this happening, and had wanted to experience it

So, I accepted the invite to join it, and waved and called out "Hi Mom!" whenever I thought I'd get seen

I met this soon-to-be Famous young Author, Harrison Voss.  I will look up his book when I get home

After a long line of limos with colorful Tanzanian flags in the dash, I came to this subtle spouse's car

I would put more on, of Jeffery's and my evening, but there's too much to show, so I'll leave off here, and continue the day's doings anon.
