Grant let me borrow his cool book that his father left him, so that I could compare back then to now, and look up some of the places in the book. Since it has no date anywhere to be found, we assume it is of the 1905 vintage that so many of Mr. Irving's things seemed to be. I intend to share the Then & Now over the course of time, and to offer tidbits of information as my research bone gets tickled. Here is a start:

Here is the photo of the Original Grand Central Station in the Book. **My research tells me that this one was built in 1871 and demolished in 1899, to make way for the one built in 1913 and still in use today. So that gives info. re: the dating of the Book! |

| Here is Grand Central Station today, seen from the south at Park Ave. |
| Can you find it, buried amongst all the taller buildings? |
To not end this post too soon, I also give you a few local photo moments

| our Monday hike up Indian Springs trail begins |
| Brenda waited patiently while I waited for the train to get into good view |
| approaching Indian Hill before we start up the spine of the hill |
| I just loved the color of the light and shadow |
| then we came upon this fairyland ground covering flora |
| Looking eastward, this shows the smoke from nearby forest fires tinting the air and making a spectacle of itself. |
| I am pleased to say that I got to show Brenda views that she hadn't seen before on this hike, since she's never gone this far. |
| I guess I stopped taking photos after this; spent my energies on keeping going. It was a lovely hike and we made it to the place I call the Lunch Bowl. |
