Jeffery and I head to Roosevelt Island

Today was a whole day with my honey!  We went over to the United Nations building, but the flags weren't flying, so it wasn't as photogenic as expected.  So we stopped and had a bagel before heading over to the tram to Roosevelt Island.  We spent all day over there, which means tonight, Jeffery is beet red from sun and wind.  What a great day!

I thought of my mother-in-law when I saw all these stairs to be climbed.

Loved this building.  So pretty

a very small lighthouse, with some Hurricane Sandy damage still evident.

we learned about Cro-nuts, which are croissant donuts.  This is a "knock-off" Bo-nut, made by Bobo.  It was filled with lemon meringue.

the tram looks so tiny up there

ruins of the old smallpox hospital; the first in the U.S. to take in those ailing from that illness.

F.D.R. park at the southern tip of the island.  It was very blocky and industrial in design, so I only took this one shot of it

I don't know why this amused me, but it did

One of the many personal spaces in the wonderful Community Garden.  We gabbed with several gardeners and found this place very happy-making.

  1. Peter and I used to take people on the tram over and back (his parents lived about 2 blocks from there) but I never actually visited the island. Looks amazing!
