Jeffery's Unwinding - Part Three - Days Four and Five

We begin on Mt Whitney, with a strong wind that will send our mountaineers down the hill rather than up.  Thank gosh they are wise.

Morning comes on

Kyria enjoys breakfast

Matt and his pack stop to take a photo

twisted tree

back down, with Lone Pine Lake in the distance

enjoying the celebratory beer (Coors Light - gack!) that they carried all the way up and all the way back down

a view from the hotel, with Mt. Whitney right behind the telephone pole in the center of the shot.

food, beer, and the World Series game, which was Game 5, so we won!  Go Giants!

cute little cafe and tea house where Jeffery enjoyed a respite and a cuppa tea made in a cool way

Jeffery has parted from the kids and is heading towards Tuolumne Meadows and Yosemite Valley

cool pipe

sign

ahh, the High Sierras; this is the Dana Fork of the Tuolumne River

sign that made us think of Family

Twin Bridges on the John Muir Trail along the Lyell Fork of the Tuolumne River ( Jeffery has explained that you don't pronounce the N in Tuolumne)

Love the geographical features!
cool clear water.  I love water!

twisted tree; makes us think of Grant and Sara!

Jeffery drinks a celebratory Coors Light at Lembert Dome

and jumps for Joy at being so close to his beloved Yosemite!

Looking towards Yosemite Valley from Lembert Dome

Jeffery particularly liked this lined path

day is ending, but Jeffery is almost there!  Look behind him.

Ahhhh!  Half Dome at day's end!  See the shadow "ghost" of John Muir hiking with a daypack on?

Iconic view in the setting of the sun

El Capitan!!!

enjoying a beer at the Awahnee Hotel.  We think of our parents, who turned us on to this fabulous, magical Valley!

heading to the place where he will camp

You might think I've exaggerated the bear problem, but I haven't; not even a little.

I have one more day of Jeffery's trip to show, but am ready to post this now.  So..... more to come, and Jeffery's return, and then you'll start seeing what we're doing back at Home.
